What Sets Us Apart

white cedar forest

Northern White Cedar:

Superior to all woods in its resistance to the elements, it is also naturally insect resistant. The closed cell structure of Northern White cedar will not absorb moisture, thus eliminating the internal growth of mold or mildew, and the development of rot. It also offers unlimited finishing options due to its naturally light appearance.

Our exclusive kiln drying system alternately de-humidifies and humidifies the ambient air in our kiln providing a slow, controlled removal of moisture. This process all but eliminates the possibility of twisting, warping, and shrinking by bringing to equilibrium the moisture in the wood used to construct your home and the environmental conditions in the location where you plan to build.

Wall Systems:
Panels pre-manufactured under controlled factory conditions are available to expedite construction in tight labor markets. This capability gives you and your builder a choice beyond conventional “stick-built” construction which can accelerate the schedule and save on local labor.

Local Representation and Communications:
Most of our clients live hundreds of miles from their building site. We represent you locally until you move in. We assist your builder in scheduling and are always available to answer questions and help solve problems. So that you may see the progress of your home, we will digitally photograph your project on a regular basis and either e-mail the photos to you or post them on this website.

Vertical Integration and Control:
Town & Country controls the forests in which the white cedar is cut. We harvest the logs and transport them to our mills, we cut the lumber in our mills, dry it in our kilns, fabricate the components of your home in our shop, and control the phased delivery of the material and components to your site. In certain cases and with advanced notice, we are able to send crews to your area to build the shell of your home.
